Born in Alessandria (Piedmont, northern Italy) in 1949, ever since he was very young, Silvio Castagnotto had been interested in the art of making craftmade ice-cream. In 1972 he opened his first ice-cream shop.

From 1978 to 1981, he's appointed to provincial delegate of "Comitato Gelatieri Italiani" (Italian Ice-cream makers Commitee) and in this new role he promotes high quality craftmade ice-cream.

Along with the continuous growth of his established firm, besides opening further shops, he built a larger wokshop for the production of both ice-cream and semifreddo confectionery.

the brand logo DOLCEFREDDO was born and registered in the 80s.

The lively activity and the non-stop search of new goals led the artisan and entrepreneur to inventing his own recipe for the production of ice-cream made of yoghurt.

The brand logo YOGOGEL was born and then registered all over Europe. YOGOGEL stood not only for a product but for a whole franchising concept, to which 19 shops adhered over nearly 3 years.

Since then, the firm has been providing advice for the opening of production plants and ice-cream shops all over the world: Tenerife (Canary Islands) - Kinshasa (Zaire) - Budapest (Hungary) - Alba Julia (Romania) - Cannes (France) - Houston (Texas) - e Arecife (Lanzarote - Canary Islands).

The story of DOLCEFREDDO in Mallorca began in 1997 with the opening of the first ice-cream shop in Calle de la Riera.

To date, there are four shops and new ones are going to be opened in co-operation with independent entrepreneurs.
